Zooming In On CMM

Moving is part of life, and we know it can be stressful. That’s why we’ve assembled a team of bright young student-athletes and logistical wizards from around the Twin Cities to make sure your possessions are in good hands. Our team comes from a lot of different backgrounds, so we’ve devoted part of every month to introducing them to you. This month we’re talking with Micah Hausman, multi-sport athlete, double-major, and one of the newest denizens of the College Muscle Movers office

Mr. H.

Hi Micah! How long have you been with CMM?

My training started in May, and I officially started on May 30. I do evening shifts and one on the weekend. So, long enough to know what I’m doing, but not too long.

This is College Muscle Movers, so… where do you go to school?

I’m a junior at St. Thomas in St. Paul

What do you study?

I’m double-majoring in Leadership & Management and Communications. I also do football and track: the defensive line and throwing, respectively.

Do you throw javelins?

No. I throw hammer, shot put, and discus.

Sounds busy! Do you have any hobbies or anything in between all that?
Yes and no. I also have weights five days a week, for football, plus an additional captain’s practice. And I work another job. Sports are kind of my hobby, though, so it works out. Plus, I need any extra time to hang out with my girlfriend, family, and friends.

I’d imagine the summer has been busy at CMM so far, too. How is the work treating you?

Pretty busy. Nothing crazy right now. The estimates can sometimes be difficult: people don’t always have a good idea of all the things that they need to move. So far that’s been the toughest part. It’s not always easy to help people remember about things they’ve stored in closets and garages.

Do you feel like the work fits well with what you’re studying?

Yes, especially communications. Here in the office there are so many things that need to be done: you work directly with the customers and the movers and everyone else in the office. It’s definitely good experience.

What’s your favorite thing about working at CMM?

Great environment. It’s a growing business, and it’s new, so there’s always this attitude that there’s room for improvement. That’s really great for me, I enjoy working for a company that cares about the quality of the service, and it’s good to get feedback on everything I’m doing. Plus, it’s a great group of people.

Awesome. Glad to hear you’re digging it! Have you encountered any unusual stuff yet?

Ha, nothing too crazy. A couple interesting moves, though. We just set up a lead for a couple who need to be moved all over the place in one day. It’ s a lot of different pick-ups and drop-offs from various apartments and storage units. Oh, and we recently did a move for a guy who owns a whole bunch of arcade cabinets and a Pepsi vending machine, pretty cool.

Yikes. That sounds like a real job to lug those around.
Yeah.

Well, thanks for taking time to do the interview, Michah! Much appreciated.
